Cascade Welcome Center BioBlitz
Calling all naturalists! ADK is hosting a BioBlitz at Cascade Welcome Center. Our goal is to identify as many of the species living at Cascade Welcome Center as possible. Whether you are an amateur, professional, or just looking to learn more we need your help! Join a specialized group lead by a local expert. You can focus on identifying certain taxa like birds or insects or hike the trails on your own and identify what catches your eye. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
If you would like to join a specific group, please select it as an add on when registering. Spots in these groups are limited!
Please come prepared for the weather with proper clothing and equipment. A suggested equipment list will be included. We plan on being outside in rain or shine. Groups can be expected to hike several miles on rolling trails which may be muddy. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring field guides and download iNaturalist to their smart phone prior to attending.
Participants should plan on meeting at ADK’s Cascade Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to their group leaving, located at 4833 Cascade Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946. Individual naturalists are welcome to come at any time during the event. An ADK staff member will be in the Welcome Center throughout the day to answer questions and collect data.
This program is possible in part thanks to support from Northern New York Audubon.
