Wilderness First Responder
Health insurance is required to participate in the program. This course also requires about 25 hours of pre-course work prior to the in-person portion.
This is an intensive five-day workshop that will teach students how to deal with medical emergencies when they are miles from help and dialing 911 is not an option. Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive, yet practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments.
An optional Course & Accommodations Package is available for a limited number of participants, which includes lodging for Friday and Saturday nights, and meals starting with dinner Friday evening through lunch on Sunday. Lodging will be in the Loft of the Adirondak Loj, a 12 person, co-ed bunk room.
