Join ADK naturalists on a "herping" adventure: a toadally cool, ribbiting walk to see what reptiles and amphibians, or "herps" call the woods and wetlands surrounding Cascade Welcome Center home. Explore the exciting world of herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians. Learn how to identify common species by their appearance and calls and how to minimize your environmental impact while herping. Whether you're newt to herping or an experienced herper, we're sure you'll have fun exploring with us!
Participants should come prepared with the appropriate clothing (including rain gear and shoes that can get muddy), bug protection (wetlands make great homes for both amphibians and mosquitoes), a headlamp or flashlight, and water. We will meet on the side porch of Cascade Welcome Center near the parking lot. Restrooms will be available prior to the walk.
This program is open to all ages, but children must be supervised.
