Fall Trails Day

Health insurance is required to participate in this program.
Fall Trails Day is a day-long cooperative trail work opportunity for anyone ages 14 and up. No prior experience is necessary! During the program, the crew will work on maintaining drainages along a section of the Orebed Brook Trail. The project will be led by an ADK staff member, who will instruct participants on the safe and efficient use of the tools.
The crew and crew leaders will meet at the Marcy Field parking lot on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 08:00 AM, and shuttle up to the trailhead together. The work site is a 3.6-mile hike in from the trailhead, so be prepared for a total of 7.2 miles of hiking.
This program is great for anyone who loves trails in the Adirondacks and wants to give back to them. Come prepared to work hard, get your hands dirty, and have fun!
While highly rewarding, trail work is also physically and mentally demanding. Participants should be prepared to work in the rain, bugs, and mud! We will work in virtually all weather conditions, as long as it is safe to do so. Volunteers should expect to use tools such as hazel hoes, pick mattocks, axes and pruning shears. While no prior experience is necessary, good physical condition and proper clothing are a must!
ADK provides all tools and personal protective equipment needed. Food is not provided for this project.
Any minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
*ADK reserves the right to deny participation if group safety will be compromised through an individual’s participation.
*ADK cannot guarantee a time the project will be finished.
