Heart Lake Ski Trail Patrols

Health insurance is required to participate in this program.

The Heart Lake Ski Trail Patrol is a day-long cooperative trail work opportunity for anyone ages 14 and up. No prior experience is necessary! During the program, the crew will patrol ski trails on Heart Lake property, removing blowdown and sidecutting brush along the way. The patrol will be led by ADK staff, who will instruct participants on the safe and efficient use of the tools.

The crew and crew leaders will meet at the Adirondak Loj front porch on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at 08:00 AM for an introduction and debrief of the day. We will then split into two groups to begin patrols.

While highly rewarding, trail work is also physically and mentally demanding. Participants should be prepared to work in the rain, bugs, and mud! We will work in virtually all weather conditions, as long as it is safe to do so. Volunteers should expect to use tools such as hand saws, axes, hazel hoes and pruning shears. While no prior experience is necessary, good physical condition and proper clothing are a must!

ADK provides all tools and personal protective equipment needed for the patrol. Come prepared to work hard, get your hands dirty, and have fun!

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

*ADK reserves the right to deny participation if group safety will be compromised through an individual’s participation.

*ADK cannot guarantee a time the project will be finished.
